Gioachino Rossini, mainly an opera composer, created 'Petite messe solennelle' ('Small solemn mass'), which became one of his greatest achievements. The 72-year old composer wrote the magnificent mass in the period of his new wave of creation and named it 'the last of his sins of old age'. The group of great musicians from Germany conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste present Rossini's mass to the audience together with Arvo Pärt's earlier work in tintinnabuli style – 'Missa syllabica'.
