Nargenfestival celebrates  Arvo Pärt's birthday in Paide, the composer's birthplace, with the performance of the works from his first author ECM disc 'Tabula Rasa' (1984) which started the ECM New Series focusing on new Western classical music.

Manfred Eicher's inspiration for the recording and the whole following series came from an incidental listening to the disc's title piece on the car radio, which left him a deep and long lasting impression.

Starting from the composer's first album, the series of Manfred Eicher's company encompasses all first recordings of Arvo Pärt's most significant works that during more than 30 years have found acknowledgement and numerous listeners all over the world.

'Tabula Rasa' has remained one of the most sought after among other recordings.

A voluminous book, containing among other things the copy of manuscripts of 'Tabula Rasa' and 'Cantus' was released in September 2010 as a special edition of the recording that celebrates the composer's 75th birthday.

'Tabula Rasa' was voted the best Estonian classical music disc of all times by experts and amateurs in the poll organised by the Estonian classical music radio station Klassikaraadio.
