ALBUMS

TALLINN-TARTU-PAIDE-RAKVERE-RIIA

In 1984 ECM (Edition of Contemporary Music) released the first Arvo Pärt's author album 'Tabula Rasa' which initiated the 'ECM New Series' focusing on new Western classical music.

Manfred Eicher's inspiration for the disc and the whole following series came from an incidental listening to the album's title work on the car radio which left a him a deep and long lasting impression. The 14 albums were the fruit of Eicher and Pärt's creative cooperation based on a rare deep intuitive understanding of each other. The series of Manfred Eicher's company includes all record debuts of Arvo Pärt's most significant works that during more than 30 years have found acclaim as well as numerous listeners all over the world.

In the year of  Arvo Pärt's 80th anniversary Nargenfestival's programme of  Arvo Pärt's Days concentrates on „ECM New Series“ recordings. The music of all ECM Arvo Pärt's author discs and also pieces which are yet being prepared for recording will sound at the concerts taking place from 2th September to 26th September. This year's Arvo Pärt's Days celebrating the anniversary will – in addition to Tallinn - take place in Tartu, Paide, Rakvere and for the first time in Latvia's capital Riga.
